Welcome
Welcome to Enrichment Programs at the University of Connecticut.
Individualized & Interdisciplinary
Studies Program
The Individualized & Interdisciplinary Studies Program oversees
the Individualized Major Program as well as the International Studies,
Criminal Justice,
and American Studies minors. The Program supports students'
participation in interdisciplinary experiential learning opportunities
such as the Biosphere, Study Abroad, National Student Exchange, Urban
Semester, fieldwork, service learning, and research.
Individualized Major Program
The Individualized Major program serves students who are interested
in a major that is not offered at the University of Connecticut.
Students can create a multi-disciplinary major from the School or
College in which they are enrolled.
Honors Program
The Honors Program offers intellectually gifted and highly motivated
students the richest possible education at the University of Connecticut.
Honors scholars enroll in challenging coursework with exceptional
faculty, engage in independent research and scholarship, participate
in a lively Honors living learning community, and engage in exciting
out of classroom opportunities including Honors study abroad and
internships.
Study Abroad Program
UConn offers over 40 study abroad programs in 28 countries on 6
continents. You may choose to study as far away as Australia or as
close as Quebec. The choice is yours.
Office of Undergraduate
Research
The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) offers a range of opportunities
for undergraduates seeking to engage in research at University
of Connecticut. The OUR helps students apply for and find research
opportunities
with UConn faculty in virtually any discipline offered by the
university. Students may apply for OUR grants or the Summer Undergraduate
Research
Fund (SURF) to help fund their research projects through the
OUR. The OUR also sponsors and coordinates Frontiers in Undergraduate
Research, the annual spring exhibition of students’ accomplishments
and productivity as researchers.
Office of National Scholarships
The Office of National Scholarships (ONS) recruits and mentors high-achieving students to compete for prestigious national scholarships. The ONS currently targets eleven scholarships: the Goldwater (for math, science, and engineering students), Udall (for those interested in environmental studies), Madison (for students becoming social studies teachers), Truman (for students involved in public service), Carnegie Fellows (for those interested in international affairs), the Rhodes and Marshall (for future national leaders), Mitchell (for study in Ireland), Gates Cambridge (for study at Cambridge), Jack Kent Cooke, and the Javits (for arts, humanities, and social sciences). All of these competitions are for undergraduates or recent graduates with extremely strong academic records and depth of experience, as evidenced by consistent leadership experience, community engagement, or involvement in research throughout the undergraduate career.
